About the Homeopath
I grew up on a ranch in the interior of British Columbia and remember wanting to care for others at an early age.

I became interested in Homeopathy in my early 20s, first with adopting a holistic lifestyle and then with education learning to treat illness on a holistic level.

I am not sure when the logic of Homeopathy became so ingrained that I could no longer believe that it was not the "part" that was sick, rather it was the whole body. This believe made me search for a different approach.

I grew to understand that holistic medicines treated the person as a whole, rather than the "individual part".
I also understood that treatment options were available before pathology and before a disease label. When we don't feel well, we know that so clearly in our minds, and yet so often we are told "it is all in your head"! Now I say, yes, your right! It is in my head, I know that my body is trying to tell me something!

So I learned that I needed to listen to what my body was telling me. My immune system is trying to show me when something is not well. That an expression may appear on a "part" of my body, but it an expression of an internal malady. If I removed that expression, where would my immune system put my expression of my internal malady, I was not better, I had simple removed the expression in that location.

Here's an example: you get a cold sore, you put cream on it to make it go away, but the virus is still inside your body somewhere, waiting to return.
Applying a steroid to a cold sore causes a suppression of a symptom and can have a negative impact on your immune system.

When I studied Homeopathy, it was so logical that I was immediately drawn to it. The signs and symptoms that our body's repeated show us, can be used to guide a trained Homeopath to a similar (like cures like) remedy. The remedy when chosen correctly can stimulate our immune systems towards healing. When the correct remedy is employed, not only will the symptom heal, the body's immune system will become stronger.

I noted other differences between Homeopathy and western medicine. I noted that Western medicine treats the "Part" or the result of illness, rather than treating the "cause of the illness" and by this approach, the illness can recur, because even though we took away a symptom, with, for example, an anti-biotic, we never treated "the cause" of the illness. Why was the illness happening?

By only treating "the symptom" or "the result of illness" rather than "the cause" of illness, the illness may return or deepen to a more serious illness due to the suppression of the original "expression (symptom) of the disease".

Homeopathy explained it so simply; "it is not the part that is sick, it is the man". That statement alone, was so intrinsically simple, it changed how I approached any illness.

In 2001 I graduated from Vancouver Academy of Homeopathy. I began my human practice and still am a human Homeopath, but also had a desire to help animals. So when the opportunity to study Veterinary Homeopathy arose, I quickly took the leap.

Analyzing pets requires a unique approach, as communication of changes that occur in behavior and temperament need to be communicated through observation by the guardian and veterinary Homeopath.

That, observation combined with the physical ailments exhibited by the animal are analyzed. It takes Veterinary Homeopathic training and strong observation skills to provide the proper analysis and medicines for each case!
